This is Park, Chansik, director of the Visual Intelligence-based Construction Safety Management System Development Lab.
The Visual Intelligence-based Construction Safety Management System Development Lab was established as a detailed project of the 2020 National Research Foundation (NRF) basic research project (basic laboratory support project).
Under my guidance, as of March 2022, three general graduate schools have produced masters, and by the end of this project, the goal is to produce five masters and two doctoral students.
To develop visual intelligence-based construction safety management technology, we are utilizing our expertise in each field and promoting joint research and development. We are conducting joint research with Professor Lee Dong-min in the field of digital twin, Professor Man-woo Park of Myongji University in the field of augmented reality, and Professor Dae-young Kim of Pusan National University in the field of construction safety. In addition, we are pursuing business agreements with construction companies such as Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, Kumho E&C, and Daewoo E&C to ensure that there are no disruptions in research performance. We intend to apply and verify the technology developed through collaboration with public institutions such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Highway Corporation. In addition, research on augmented reality and image acquisition devices seeks to achieve research goals through consulting and collaboration with companies with the relevant technology.
Finally, we want to build a prototype system that uses advanced risk determination algorithm, visual reasoning, and augmented reality technology to remotely assist safety managers in large sites and remote safety inspections at small sites without a safety manager.
Ultimately, we develop source technology for intelligent remote safety management that can not only overcome the physical site inspection limits of managers, but also assist in risk identification.
